Because Everyone Deserves a Night Out

Homegrown Connections Social Club is all about friendship, fun and having somewhere to belong.

Our social events give adults with developmental disabilities opportunities to spend time with friends, meet new people, try different activities and enjoy a relaxed night out in the community.

There are no worksheets and no formal lessons.

Sometimes the best way to build confidence and social skills is simply by having experiences together.

What Does Social Club Look Like?

Every Social Club is a little different.

Depending on the season, we might enjoy:

Music bingo
Live music
Games and trivia
Painting and creative activities
Holiday celebrations
Dances
Talent nights
Sporting events
Community outings
Special events
Snacks and treats
And plenty of opportunities to laugh and socialize

We also love incorporating ideas from the group.

Real Friendships. Real Experiences.

Making and maintaining friendships can be difficult when there aren't enough natural opportunities to socialize.

Social Club creates consistent opportunities for participants to see familiar faces, spend time together and build connections over shared experiences.

There's no pressure to be the most outgoing person in the room.

Some people jump right into the activity. Others prefer to watch for a while, chat with one or two people or participate in their own way.

All of that is okay.

Our goal is to create an environment where people feel comfortable, included and excited to come back.

Out in the Community

Some Social Club events take place at our regular program location, while others bring us out into the community.

Concerts, sporting events, seasonal activities and other outings give participants opportunities to enjoy the same kinds of experiences as any other group of friends planning a night out together.

When events take place off-site, families receive all location, transportation, drop-off and pick-up information in advance.

Social Club runs throughout the year, with different activities and special events offered each session.

Some events have limited space or require advance ticket purchases, so early registration may be required.
